At the Costs Bar Simon Browne QC continues to head the field and appears regularly in the leading Costs Litigation cases. He was leading counsel in the landmark case of Mitchell v News Group and the instrumental costs budgeting appeal case of Henry v News Group. Recent appearance shave included Yentob v MGN in the Court of Appeal and as Costs Counsel in the Construction Industry Vetting Litigation.
The common costs issues in the News of the World and Daily Mirror Phone Hacking Group litigation have occupied much of his practice together with “big ticket” City Commercial multi million pound costs litigation (see ENRC v Dechert LLP in the High Court and Court of Appeal). At the invitation of the Master of the Rolls sits on the Civil Justice Council on costs matters.
Simon also sits as chair of the Bar Disciplinary Tribunals and is renowned for his approachable yet firm manner. He is also an accredited costs mediator and arbitrator.
