Richard has been recommended by both Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 over many years as a Leading Junior in his two main practice areas: costs and personal injury. In each field he is regularly instructed by both Claimants / Receiving Parties and Defendants / Paying Parties.
He has extensive knowledge of all areas of costs litigation, appears regularly in the SCCO and is a regular speaker on the subject. He has been appointed as a Mediator in several CADR costs mediations and has also accepted instructions to act as an expert costs assessor on the joint instruction of both Receiving and Paying Parties.
Richard is also an extremely experienced personal injury litigator where the focus of his practice is on high value claims with life- changing injuries or cases of particular complexity. He is the current Secretary of the Personal Injury Bar Association and the current editor of the Judicial College (formerly JSB) Guidelines on General Damages. He is also a qualified arbitrator and is on the panel of accredited arbitrators for PIcARBS, the arbitration service for personal injury and clinical negligence disputes.
